James Smith (21 months)
Deciding to start sleep training was the hardest part - our 21 month old son, James was waking anything from 5-10 times a night, getting a bottle (and sometimes two bottles) just to try and pacify him. He was diagnosed with asthma at about a year and with a very sensitive gag reflex he would vomit easily - especially if we let him cry. He could vomit within 30 seconds of me walking out of his room! My husband and I both work, so after 21 months of disturbed sleep we were desperate! Baby love was amazing - once we had made the decision, the implementation was much easier than expected, and despite our suspicion that the program wouldn't work for James - it did - beautifully!
Within a week James had stopped vomiting when we put him to bed and now sleeps through from about 7pm to about 5am! Unbelievable! We can't believe the difference it has made to our lives and are better parents because we are actually getting some sleep. James' day routine has also improved dramatically...and he now regularly sleeps anything from one and a half hours to 2 hours a day! He still fights sleep and can still vomit very easily if he gets overstimulated, but we have learned to read his signals and are able to structure his routine much better. James is no longer our "cute little dictator" and we no longer tiptoe around our house for fear of waking him up and the crying and vomiting starting again.
He loves his new bedtime routine of reading books and having his bottle in the lounge (not in his bedroom) I am not sure of the exact words, but the idea that "security comes from relationship and not proximity" opened my eyes to the fact that the Baby Love sleep training program wasn't cruel, and gave me the courage to change our lives for the better! Thank you!
