Joanne Randall (10 months)

Hi Jacqui,

Hope this mail finds you well!
As you may remember, I have really battled to get Joanne into any kind of routine since day one. And, admittedly, I haven't really tried that hard because the screaming at night disrupts the whole household.

Up to recently, she's been waking between 10 and 12 times a night, and I've been a complete zombie. A few weeks back, I was driving back to the office in Germiston from seeing one of my clients out in Roodepoort, and I actually had to pull my car over because I couldn't keep my eyes open - in broad day light!! Well, that was it. I went home that evening and declared war. I told my husband that I had to do something with this child, and Baby Love was going to be put in to full force!

I took out my "bible" (Baby Love manual), and drew up a daytime routine for my maid (Jo stays at home in the day). My maid's response to me was that in their culture they don't let their babies cry - they simply put them on their backs to sleep. I told her that she did not have a choice, and being the darling that she is, she did it.

Day one - the crying only lasted 20 minutes, day two - same thing, day three - BREAKTHROUGH. She slept through. It's been wonderful. And last night was the first night that I actually slept through!!

Baby Love has become a part of me and my family, and I will most certainly pass this on to my kids when they have kids!!

Take care. Lee
