How Baby Love has changed our lives:

Nikki will remember very well the day we came to see her for the first time that Friday afternoon! I was in tears for most of the consultation. Abigail (above, now 7 months) was a 4 month old over-stimulated, not sleeping, not feeding properly, mom-and-dad-are-going-to-kill-each-other-because-of-sleep-depravation baby.

I was at breaking point! Something had to be done - because we have tried everything before. Abigail used to take 15 minute naps about 4 times a day, then wake up smiling. NOW I know that's not nearly enough for a baby her age. NOW I know I should have left her to try and fall asleep again. She used to go down at night relatively well, but the number of times I had to get up at night…..*sigh*…I stopped counting after the 7th time every night. But GETTING her to sleep was always a time-consuming, back breaking exercise on the freakin' pilates ball!!!

We started with the Baby Love program the very next day - facing the rebuke from the family and in-laws that were visiting at the time. I just told them straight out that if her crying bothered them, they are welcome to leave or just step outside….*grin*

The first day (and night) involved an amount of crying every time it was nap time. But she had so much trouble staying awake for the allotted times, and once fell asleep in my arms before I could put her in the cot. : She never cried for more than 15 minutes at a time before eventually falling asleep… herself….unaided…with only a dummy and a blankie.

We decided to also take the dummy away during the day, and only use it as a sleeping aid - which was a bit difficult at first, but as she settled into the program, we realized she doesn't need the dummy (to be quiet) during the day! She was far more content and happy because she was getting her full 90 minutes of rest every 2 hours. This also improved her feeding and she is now eating like champ! Milk first, and then solids - is a very valuable lesson I was able to learn very early on!

I'm still amazed how she falls asleep after I put her down for nap time..sometimes with a bit of a fuss, sometimes without "peep" from her ;-). I see the look of surprise on people's faces when I tell them I put her down and simply leave the room! But the program works! We still have some work to do on the night sleeps, she still wakes up once or twice….. But we'll get there!

Thanks Nikki - for all your support. It was great to know you're only a phone call, an sms or an e-mail away! Thanks Baby Love for an amazing program. If there was an incentive for the people you refer to the program, I think I would have been able to buy a new car already!!!!!
