Madison Hoedemaker (9 months)
Because Madison had colic up till three months old and used to scream for hours every evening, I would have to rock her and walk her up and down to put her to sleep. She slept through the night until around six months and then started to wake up constantly.
As the weeks went on it got worse until she was waking up every hour throughout the night. I would have to get up every time to walk her up and down and help her fall asleep again. This would take at least 20 minutes each time. Often she would only sleep for 15 minutes and then wake up again, and the whole process would start over. During the day Madison only slept for 30-45 minutes once or twice a day and getting her to sleep was often so difficult I would give up because my arms or back were so sore.
I was so exhausted after three months of getting 2-3 hours sleep a night that I quit my job so that I could get a little sleep during the day. Sister Sue at the Storks Nest referred me to Deana when I got to the point where I couldn't cope any more. The sleep training was a tough time as I was anxious about letting Madison cry, but within a few days she was crying for less than 10 minutes and after the second week she stopped crying completely. Deana was always supportive when I phoned with questions and helped me get through the tough part. For the first time in her life Madison can put herself to sleep, has learned to self-sooth and all I need to do is put her in her cot, give her a kiss and walk out.
It is such a weight off my shoulders and Madison is so much happier and calmer. She now sleeps between 11 and 12 hours a night and has two proper naps a day of between an hour and an hour and a half. Madison thrives on a set routine and it has turned my life around as well.
So a big thank you to Baby Love!
