Robyn Wilmot (6 months)

Hi Jacqui

Just wanted to update you on Robyn!

Thanks for the advice, I started following your suggested routine and was dreading the screaming that I would have to endure. I was also very nervous about forcing Robyn to go "cold turkey" as she'd been used to having at least 2-3 bottles during the night.

So I started by sticking to the very strict day-time nap times and feeding first. I've found it such a huge help to know how much to feed her - especially your suggestion of giving her the bottle before the solids. I thought she would be full from her bottle, but she gobbles the veggies and cereal down too. That means I can rest assured that she's getting her daily nutritional requirements - both milk and solids. I also took away her dummy during the day and she only gets it when she sleeps, along with her dudu toy.

Am very pleased to say that after four days of simply getting her daytime routine right, she started waking only 2-3 times at night. I gave her a bottle of water for two nights and then weaned her off that. She then only started waking when she couldn't find her dummy (compared to at least 5-6 times previously). She's now slept through quite a few times and will only wake up once a night when she can't find her dummy. WHAT A RELIEF!!! I can't tell you the difference it's made in terms of feeling more in control of my life. I also plan my day around her sleeps and can read the signs when she is simply overtired - whereas before I was at a complete loss as to whether it was hunger or colic.

I cannot recommend this programme enough. It's flexible, but provides just the right amount of routine.

Thanks again.

Jacqui
