Sebastian Heyns (8 months)
Since Sebastian was about four months old (when he became more alert and interested in everything around him) we struggled putting him down for naps. We even went the rocking route until we realised that our arms wouldn't hold. When he did nap he mostly slept for only 45 minutes at a time.
Sebastian had always been a good night-sleeper, except for nursing twice a night even at seven months. But then at about six months he started staying up for up to three hours in the very early morning hours. By that time sleep deprivation had taken its toll on all three of us. I could see Sebastian's bubbly personality changing and I was desperate to remedy the situation. Luckily I found Baby Love.
Since I live in a small rural town I opted to do the correspondence course with Jacqui. Within a week I received the Baby Love manual and, after working through it and putting together my questions, we had our telephone consultation. Jacqui was understanding, helpful and encouraging. She also answered all of my questions clearly and talked me through the entire process.
We decided that I would start implementing the routine the next day and the sleep training a few days later since we had family obligations that weekend. By the second night Sebastian was sleeping through! His naps took a little longer to fall in place, but by the end of the three weeks of sleep training he was in a routine, taking proper naps and self-soothing. And his nights were a dream!
